The achievements of our institute are, by any standard, truly commendable. In my view, there are only three factors that brought our institute to where it is today.
The first key ingredient in our institute’s success is the presence of members, of professionals like you who never tire of giving support in so many ways to our institute. Some of you are faculty members of our institute’s CIA Learning Seminar series and various other training programs. Some of you act as facilitators or lead discussants in small group discussions. Some of you, who are natural artists, even provide entertainment during gatherings. Some of you belong to the elite group of topnotchers in the CIA exams. No contribution is less than the others, everything counts. You bring honor, fame, and a great sense of achievement to your institute.
The second factor is the continuous outpouring of support extended by our institute’s stakeholders. These include our partner organizations in the profession like the ICD, the ACFE and the like that enable us to achieve more because of the synergies we derive out of working together; our regulators who are open to listen and work with us on issues relating to governance, risk management and internal control; our sponsors whose value isn’t only the financial provision but more importantly the tools and processes that become our enabler in our work; and of course, the organizations we work for, including our bosses, who provide us not only financial support but also support in the advocacy of our profession. Our stakeholders, through their support, allowed us to have the courage and the determination to charge ahead and contribute even more to the growth of our profession.
The third factor is the contribution of the men and women behind the leadership, the management and the staff support of our institute. They had been unselfish with their time and energy. Each year, each team was focused and single-minded in the goal to break barriers, to transform, to advocate, to reach new heights and to run the race to excellence. Each year brought our institute, our profession and our country nearer the vision of becoming one of the world’s finest. Didn’t we all feel great and ecstatic when, for the first time, our institute won the global IMAP in 2003. Once is not enough for us, we did it again in 2008.
My friends, the examples I’ve shared with you are only a few of the many indicators of how far we’ve GROWN and how much we’ve DEVELOPED. Today, the question is no longer IF we can do it. The challenge now is how we can KEEP ON GROWING AND DEVELOPING. I am confident that if we all work together like a seasoned basketball team, there is no limit to what we can achieve. Just like a basketball team, we need a coach to provide us the guidance. With God Almighty as our Coach, I assure you we are on our way to “SUSTAINING GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT”.
